Whatever You Have Right Now Is Enough

Not identified in the transcript

Using the widow’s two mites, the preacher explains that generosity is measured relative to what a person possesses and by the goodwill and love with which the gift is offered. Drawing on Saint John Chrysostom, he assures the congregation that what they possess right now is enough for God’s saving work; eternal life is received through divine grace rather than worldly abundance or success.

What Are We Keeping for Ourselves?

Fr. Mesrop Ash

Using the account of the widow’s offering, the preacher teaches that generosity is measured not by the visible size of a gift but by the giver’s heart and sacrifice. Christians should examine what they withhold—money, time, talents, attention, and love—and whether prudent restraint is motivated by genuine responsibility or by fear greater than their love for God.
