Faith Deepened in Believing Community

Rev. Fr. Mesrop Ash

Using Christ’s raising of the ruler’s daughter, the preacher teaches that shared, mature faith deepens communal prayer and receptivity to the Holy Spirit. The faith of the paralytic’s friends and the dismissal of catechumens from the Eucharistic portion of the Divine Liturgy illustrate how believers strengthen one another and should prepare themselves to encounter Christ.

Rise Up: Forgiveness, Repentance, and Spiritual Healing

Unknown parish priest (Der Hayr)

Using Christ’s healing of the paralytic, the homily teaches that complete restoration begins with forgiveness and the healing of the soul. Genuine repentance requires recognizing even the sins to which we are blind, confessing them honestly, and becoming willing to change. Saint Mary is presented as the foremost example of a life conformed to God’s will in preparation for her approaching feast.
