A Cross-Bearing People: Exalting the Holy Cross

On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the preacher describes Armenians as a cross-bearing people and presents the Cross as the defining sign of belonging to God. Recalling Saint Helena’s discovery of the True Cross and the Armenian presence in the Holy Land, he urges Christians to face personal, communal, and national struggles with faith. To exalt the Cross means placing God, Christ’s resurrection, forgiveness, mercy, hope, and life above the false idols of contemporary culture.
